The revolution will be broadcast on YouTube

The revolution taking place in Syria is much like the revolutions that have taken place throughout the middle east. Recently I joined the Facebook group The Syrian Revolution 2011 thinking it would provide some information on the latest events in Syria and I’m surprised at the level of content. The near 205,00 member page features well over 400 videos of protests, political statements, violence, and unrest along with thousands of images and photographs. At the moment it’s the most frequently updated Facebook page I follow. It seems like every hour there’s another video.

Most of this material is very graphic and it’s hard to place it into context. Put it alongside some of the news stories getting out of Syria and it paints a very sad tale. One video this week had the following headline when it ended:
