The 2011 CIBC Run for the Cure was held today in Halifax and in spite of the pouring rain thousands of people showed up and raised a million dollars! All told Canadians raised $30 million dollars towards creating a
future without breast cancer.

* Now in its 20th year, the Run for the Cure has stayed true to its volunteer grassroots beginnings
as it has grown. Families, friends, co-workers and survivors have come out in the thousands to
join the movement in 59 communities to take action. The fundraising efforts and volunteer
support of over 170,000 Canadians allows the Foundation to continue funding ground breaking
research, education, awareness and advocacy initiatives. This year’s overwhelming support has
reached international soil to include the first international site, in Kandahar, Afghanistan.
