This afternoon I’ll be speaking at the What Makes a Man 2014 Conference in Toronto, Ontario. The conference covers two days – day one at the Alumnae Theatre and day two is at the Glenn Gould Studio.

The conference will focus on three important topics:

  1. HEALTHY MASCULINITY

Explore how ideas of manhood impact us in everyday life and how embracing healthy masculinity leads to greater gender equality.

  2. DIALOGUE & CONVERSATION

What Makes A Man will be a two-way conversation with both our physical space and online audiences.

  3. BE THE CHANGE

Explore how men of all ages can embrace leadership roles in influencing change, from the locker room, to the living room, to the boardroom.

I’ll be speaking about Rehtaeh, reaching out to students about sexual assault and cyber-abuse, and the Longfields-Davidson Heights Secondary School‘s ManUp! Initiative to end violence against women.

The work of those young men means a lot to me. They are part of the change.
