The hashtag #YouKnowHerName was started today by Halifax freelance journalist Hilary Beaumont. Today Hilary wrote from the Halifax courtroom during sentencing for a 20 year-old defendant, who plead guilty in September. He was given no jail time and must take a course on sexual harassment. When offered the opportunity to say something he said nothing.

The hashtag refers to my daughter, Rehtaeh Parsons.

The hashtag #youknowhername has now been picked up around the world and was trending in the #2 spot in Canada.

I think you meant the people who sent the picture not the rapist. As no one has been charged with a rape.

Well if no one has been charged with it “yet”. Then it is irrelevant to even mention the same word in a sentence rehtaehs statement apparently said it was consensual exceptt the picture. But good luck. And my name is Sam Roberts I’m not sure why it auto corrested to a different name.

Rehtaeh’s statement says nothing of the sort.
