Depression is quiet

People with depression or anxiety can find it difficult to take the first step in getting help. They may need to enlist the support of family members, friends or a health professional to start on the road to recovery.

This wonderful cartoon is by the artist Colleen Butters, and it demonstrates the importance of taking that first step in reaching out for help.

[su_box title=”Are you feeling suicidal?” style=”soft” box_color=”006699″ title_color=”#000000″]If you are feeling suicidal, please contact your local crisis line or counselling centre. The information that follows is not a substitute for professional counselling. I strongly recommend seeking guidance from a professional caregiver.

There are several ways to find assistance:

  • If you are in an crisis or emergency situation please call 911 immediately. Help is available.
  • Check your phone directory for the listing of your local crisis centre.
  • Access the Centre for Suicide Prevention’s listing of Canadian crisis centres.
  • You have made the right choice to look for help. I hope you will contact someone right away.
