Scadding Court Community Centre has started a three-year project called Sexual Violence – The Roadshow. It’s a travelling art gallery, sexual violence prevention workshop, studio and exhibition that will travel to 15 Ontario communities and be hosted by local artists and Sexual Assault and Rape Crisis Centres.

The Roadshow: Tattoo Edition highlights the body art survivors of sexual and gendered violence get to commemorate the experience of violence. The project asks for shots of their tattoos and body art with the stories and ideas behind them, bringing these images together with Mandi Gray from Silence is Violence – York University and Deborah Davidson (The Tattoo Project) to talk about how we choose to memorialize trauma.

The show opened in Toronto tonight. If you missed the opening night the gallery will be open all weekend. Head to 707 Dundas Street West at Bathurst, Toronto. Look for the colorful shipping container with awesome people around it. Open all weekend.
