Happy Birthday Rehtaeh

You would turn 22 today.

All the things I never had a chance to say,

the art I’ve never seen,

Your dreams, unrealized and forgotten.

And this awful emptiness in my heart.

I think of you always, always,

but never like today.

Happy Birthday sweetheart.

I love you ❤️

Happy 22nd Birthday to Rehtaeh. I am so sorry for the pain in your heart, Glenn. I can only speak for myself in saying that Rehtaeh’s story has profoundly touched my life and work and I think of her often when working with young women and youth coping with similar circumstances. Knowing how Rehtaeh suffered and could not find the help she desperately needed, I am extra cautious to ensure I provide as much non-judgmental support and unconditional positive regard as I can towards my clients and I advocate as much as I can for their needs. I am just truly sorry that this world had to lose such a beautiful bright light, and that Rehtaeh was so poorly treated by the system that should have protected her and the system that should have helped her.

My heart breaks for you and her mother. Rehtaeh will never get to grow into an adult
