Iceland is Magnificent

Iceland has been incredible. We arrived in Reykjavik early Sunday via Icelandic Air from Toronto. Once on the ground and through customs (it took about 5 seconds to clear), we headed out to pick up the camper van we rented from Kuku Campers. The van is small but has everything we need including a heater that can run all night. We learned quick [...]

Iceland Bound

Writing from Pearson International Airport as we wait for our flight to board. We're both very excited to be underway and have a break. It's been rough since Ozzy died. Iceland is the destination. We rented a camper van and bought a map but have no real plan or schedule to follow once we arrive in Reykjavik. Just going to do the ring road driv [...]

Memory Stones

[su_divider top="no" divider_color="#006699"] [su_quote cite="Chief Seattle"]There is no death, only a change of worlds.[/su_quote] After the first anniversary of Rehtaeh's death her mom, Leah Parsons, started a memory stone project. She paints stones with Rehtaeh's name on them and asks people to place them wherever they choose as a way to spread [...]

People of Ecuador – Part 2

[su_divider top="no" divider_color="#006699"] This lady ran up to Krista as we were walking around Quito and, using her best hand signals, told her not to carry her purse around on her back. She made a cutting motion like a knife and we remembered reading how petty thieves can cut bags to steal from people. Fortunately we didn't experience any issu [...]

People of Ecuador – Part 1

[su_divider top="no" divider_color="#006699"] These are some of the shots I took in Ecuador using a Fuji X100T. It's proving be an amazing street photography camera as it makes very little noise and it doesn't have the looks of a big DSLR camera/lens combo. Ecuador so far has been interesting. We were thinking of moving here to retire but changed o [...]

Nassau Bahamas PT 1

We arrived in Nassau safe and sound yesterday afternoon. Our original flight left Halifax at 7:00 but we managed, thanks to a very nice WestJet employee, to change out flight to an earlier one. That gave us time in Toronto for breakfast. The flight down took just under three hours. Nice and quick. We're staying at the Meliá Nassau Beach Hotel. So f [...]

Barcelona

Barcelona was one of the nicest city's we have been too. It's had it all - beauty, food, spirits, sites, history, beaches, and romance. We were sad to leave but have many fond memories. The break was nice but it was hard not to think of Rehtaeh. She would have loved Barcelona, especially swimming in the Med and the food. We stayed at a Vacation Ren [...]
